We got an invitation from our neighbors that wanted us to go over to their house and they wanted us to go to a home brew tasting. I had no idea that they brewed their own beer, never mind that they had five flavors to choose from. I went online to see how popular these things were and there were many web sites that were chock full of information that people were sharing. I saw that even mighty raspberry ketone were flavored in some of the beers and I thought that it was so interesting.

My husband loves to go into the basement on Sundays. He works on crafting his own beer in between watching the various sporting events on TV. He’s pretty much made his own man cave down there. He has friends over all the time, and they love sampling his latest concoction. I must admit that he’s really good at this hobby of his. Last night at dinner I asked him if he had time to read the stone wave reviews. He looked at me with a puzzled look on his face, and I had to remind him about the product I saw on TV.
Just to provide some background information, because my husband spends so much time in the basement making beer, we put a microwave down there so that he’d have easy access to quick meals. He quickly grew tired of the same old TV dinners.
I have a friend who loves to drink wine and beer. He’s pretty much a connoisseur on the two drinks. If you ask him about any kind of wine or beer, he can tell you when and where it was made, what its main ingredients are, and even the method they used to make them. His birthday was a few weeks ago and I was having a hard time thinking of a good gift idea for him this year. Last year I got him wine gift bags, but I wanted to get him something beer related this year. After a lot of thought, I decided to get him a brew at home beer kit.
The kit allows anyone to combine their own ingredients and make beer right at home.
Maria and I have finally gotten a place where we can finish the basement. Of course we are much better off than the fellow who originally built this house. He was about 80 % done with the place when he caught embezzling from his employer and he lost everything in exchange for a five year prison sentence. That was our fortune, but at the time it was a lot more house than we needed and we could barely afford it even at a steep discount. Now we are looking at options, for example we are looking at wine chillers for a little bar that we are going to put in the corner. I found it at a yard sale about a month or two ago, bought it for 20 bucks and repaired it so that it looks pretty good.
I already have my own kegerator, a homemade one which I made out of an old chest style freezer.
I have been interested in victorinox knives since I was a child. They are the ones who make the Swiss Army knives. What kid would not want to own one? Knives are cool. Knives that have all kinds of tools with them are even cooler. As an adult, the first Victorinox I carried on a daily basis was one that had a plastic toothpick in it. I had this one tooth where food would get stuck in it. This is something that can drive you nuts. The feeling does not go away, and you will use paper, a straw or anything to get the piece of offending food out. I always had a plastic toothpick in my pocket. It worked great! It was easy to clean since it was smooth plastic, and it did not harm my tooth.
I knew I wanted to start eating healthier, but I wasn’t quite sure what I should do first. I knew I had to eat more vegetables, but that was really all I knew. I decided to take the time to go out and learn what actions I needed to take, so that I could be a healthier person through my diet.
The first thing I did was buy a kenwood food mixer and a good blender. I knew I would be making smoothies and mixing food together to make healthy snacks. Luckily there were a lot of recipes out there that helped me to get an idea of what I needed to buy. After trial and error, I started making some healthy delicious food.
I also decided to go to my doctor to find out if I had any vitamin deficiencies. He gave me a script for some blood work, so that I could make sure that my body was getting enough of what it needed. I didn’t have any deficiences, but if I did, I’d have to change my eating habits slightly.
I changed my eating habits anyway, and I made sure I didn’t have any junk food in my house. To be honest, getting rid of the junk food did a lot to help me on my healthy eating journey. Because it wasn’t in the house, I wasn’t motivated to eat it. I was able to steer clear of the food that was bad for me, as long as I didn’t buy it. At work, I had to make sure that I took my lunch along. The days I didn’t bring my lunch were my cheat days.
I’m so happy I decided to eat better. I have lost about 6 pounds and I feel much more alert as well.
I am moving out of my mom’s house in the next couple of weeks, and I will need to buy some pots and pans so that I will be able to cook for myself when I am living on my own. I asked my mom if she would let me take some of her pots and pans with me, but she refused me. I guess I will have to try to buy what I need on my own, right now I am looking for good prices on cast iron griddle pans. I learned how to cook in cast iron pans a couple of years ago, and I find that they are very useful for all sorts of things, due to their heat retention properties.
I have been experimenting with small scale brewing for some time and now I have a couple of very good recipes which all of my friends love. Right now I have a couple of food grade buckets I use for fermenting wort and making little batches of sanitizer. I do not bottle anything right now. Instead I have a friend who works for a major brewery and his boss lets him trade my kegs in for freshly sanitized ones. He is a really big fan of my work and that is really nice. He even took some of it to the brewmaster, who said it was like some beer he had tasted in the Czech Republic or something. Right now I am going to start out slow, so I need more stuff to make bigger batches.
